Transportation

The AIA Transportation Department staff dedicates themselves to safely transporting your children to and from school. We support the District’s transportation needs, including busing students to and from school and special needs transportation.

As a department, safety is our number one consideration. Our drivers all meet training standards established by state and federal regulations. It also takes shared cooperation by the bus driver, students, their parents, and the school. Since the safety of our students is paramount, it is essential that parents cooperate fully with the school and the bus company by following basic safety rules.
 


Apply for Transportation

To apply for transportation, simply fill out a transportation request form and include the following information:

  • Student name
  • Grade level
  • Brief description of where the student resides 

Returning Students

Returning students should contact the bus company for pick up times and locations.  When calling, please indicate which bus the student rode the previous year (i.e. South Park Elementary) and the location of the stop. The bus company generally processes requests within 48-72 hours. To check the status of a request, please contact the bus company directly.


Bus Procedures
  • If a bus comes late or does not pick up a student, the parent should contact the bus company immediately.
  • Students should arrive at their assigned pick up location at least 10 minutes before the scheduled pick up time and be prepared to remain at least 10 minutes after the scheduled pick up time.
  • In order to ensure all students are safe while traveling to and from school, we cannot tolerate disruptive behavior on the bus.
  • Students have assigned seats while riding the bus. Any student refusing to sit in his/her assigned seat will automatically be suspended from the bus from 1 to 3 days. Repeat offenders face permanent suspension from the bus.
  • We do not tolerate fighting and bullying. These behaviors result in a suspension.
  • We will hold the parent of any student caught vandalizing a bus financially responsible for all repairs and damages. This violation may also result in suspension from the bus.

Please submit all parent complaints and concerns in writing or email to the transportation coordinator. You'll receive a call or written response regarding complaints within 24 hours. Please do not approach drivers to address concerns or complaints at any time.
